I haven't been doing much nail art lately, just playing around with layering different polishes. This manicure is just that; layering. I layered one coat of NYC "Love Letters" over two coats of China Glaze "Skyscraper". I love it! "Skyscraper" is a great blue/silver glitter. The first coat is ugly but it evens out after two, just be careful not to drag the polish as it is a bit thick and likes to pile up at the tips of the nails. "Love Letters" looks boring in the bottle but on nails it gives a great pink sparkly duochrome effect! It's actually a favourite layering polish of mine.

purpleholo
Yes, more holo polish. haha This was my first time doing a full mani with it though. I've been loving it over purple so that's what I went with. I used an LA Colors "Amethyst" I bought for $1 at Big Lots. It's gorgeous! My pictures don't even do it justice. It has glitter in it but very subtle like a shimmer, applied nicely and was two coats, rich colour and I have had no chips or tip wear after a few days. Time for a TON of pictures!
It kept wanting to photograph kind of blue, but it's not. I'd say it has warm undertones not cold.
Then I added a coat of "gLORIous" holo top coat.

this was before I cleaned up the holo top coat, sorry
indoor lighting
You could see the holo even indoors, as long as there was light! The only time it was hidden is in the shade.
This is where I was redoing my index finger. You can see "Amethyst" alone and w/ "gLORIous" here. It's so pretty either way. And no, "Amethyst" is not a dupe for SC "Let's Talk". I have both and "Let's Talk" is much darker without so much shimmer and with blue undertones.
Day 2, of course I had to mix things up. I wanted to see what NYC "Love Letters" looked like over this. In the bottle it looks like a frosty shimmery pink which is a finish I HATE but I got it for, like, 20cents so I figured I'd try it and if I hated I'd give it away. Well, to my surprise it goes on as a great duochrome topcoat! It gives any polish a great shimmer that shines pink and blue. It's similar to CND Effects! Here I have it on my ring and index finger only, for comparison. Because "gLORIous" is so murky in the shade, I like "Love Letters" because that's when it really sparkles and does its thing!
And yes, the holo is still there! It does fade it a bit but as you can see, it's still gorgeous and for day 2, it was a nice change up. Here is the same comparison as above but in the sun!
Day 3 of this mani I decided to add an accent finger. I usually change my mani every 2-3 days but I plan on keeping this on until Sun which will be 5 days so that's why I kept adding to it. I still have no chips and little tip wear. I did do a top coat (Revlon Quick Dry) before "gLORIous" but that's it, nothing on top.
So, I added WnW "Party of Five" glitter to my ring fingers. I applied it VERY thick so it would look almost like it was all sequins. I was afraid it'd never dry but added the Revlon Quick Dry to it and no problem! That was yesterday and today is still looks the same.
it has silver, blue, red, pink and green glitter. the top coat made it feel completely smooth.
