Pacifica Supernatural Eye Shadow Palette Review

I have a makeup review for you today!  I only discovered Pacifica this year but it has quickly become a favourite vegan friendly brand. I love that they are phthalate, paraben and petroleum free, made in the USA and eco-conscious. Target carries some of their products, which is convenient. I had seen a few glowing reviews of this eyeshadow palette but couldn't really justify buying it myself (I already have so may eyeshadows!) buuut then I spotted it on clearance so, y'know, I had to get it.  And I'm glad I did!  Even at $12, this palette would be WELL worth the money.

The palette itself doesn't have the colour names on it, unfortunately, but it is on the box.

These eyeshadows are so soft and pigmented! They remind me of Urban Decay eyeshadows, actually.  I love that these aren't glittery/sparkly but they do have great shimmer giving them a subtle duochrome effect.

Here they swatched over ELF mineral primer.  I'm so pleased with these!  I'd definitely recommend this palette to anyone. It's a nice range of basic colours where you can do a subtle look or something more smokey.  The quality of these eyeshadows is so great, I really can't believe they cost so little!

Here's a smokey look I did using the palette.

Shiro Cosmetics Review

I have a review for you today! I know, it has been a while. I'd seen this product pop up on a few blogs and really wanted to give them a try!  The brand is Shiro Cosmetics. It is 100% vegan and uses natural ingredients. I love that the ingredients list and short and simple!  I bought the Intertubes in four shades. They come in multiple sizes. This is the size "mini" which is 4 grams and comes in a tin for $5. You can also get sample sizes as well as full sizes.

The pigmentation on these is amazing so I went with some bold shades. Pigmentation wise I'd say they are comparable to OCC lip tars but the product itself is quite different. These look and feel like a balm when you put them on, sorta like Vaseline. The first layer is more sheer but you can apply more to build up opacity and it won't feel like you are wearing anything too thick. I find they apply well with both your finger or a lip brush. A lip brush gives me more of a defined, opaque look where as with my finger I have more leeway. These do last a while and as you'll see below, they stain slightly which is something I personally like. Because they can be sheer, they are easy to apply on the go! I would say my only complaint is that they can be a bit drying and you have to make sure you have very smooth lips when applying them or else the pigment will be patchy and stick to any dry skin.

Shiro Cosmetics have a "nerd" theme going on so everything is named after some sort of character, movie reference etc. hehe

From top left to bottom right:

I am going to include the description straight from the website because they are great! They give you a good idea of what to expect from the product.

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules, and so do I
A great lip color's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy

Color: Red-orange; can appear coral.
Flavor: Ginger. Contains real ginger oil; may cause mild stinging or a 'plumping' effect.
Opacity: May be applied sheer or built up to moderate opacity.
Stains: Yes - please keep away from upholstery and small children!

Ingredients*: shea butter, organic jojoba oil, candelilla wax, vitamin E, red #6, red #27, yellow #6, castor oil, mica, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, ginger oil.

Vegeta! What does the scouter say about that lip product's awesomeness level?!

Color: Bold pink, a shade or two darker than bubblegum. You'll want to wear it at least 9001 times.
Flavor: Grapefruit.
Opacity: May be applied moderately opaque or built up to complete opacity.
Stains: Yes - please keep away from upholstery and small children!

Ingredients*: shea butter, organic jojoba oil, candelilla wax, vitamin E, red #27, castor oil, mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, grapefruit oil.

Whenever you apply this lip color, you must preface the application by bellowing, "ALRIGHT CHUMS, LET'S DO THIS." I don't care where you are or what company you are keeping; this is a rule. Enjoy.

Color: Pale pinky-lavender (similar to the text color used for the Paladin class) with subtle blue interference and gold sparks.
Flavor: Spearmint. I know chicken would have been more meme-appropriate, but chicken is a terrible flavor for a lip product. Contains real spearmint oil; may cause mild stinging or a 'plumping' effect.
Opacity: May be applied moderately opaque or built up to complete opacity.
Stains: Yes - please keep away from upholstery and small children!

Ingredients*: shea butter, organic jojoba oil, candelilla wax, vitamin E, red #27, blue #1, castor oil, mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, silica, calcium aluminum borosilicate, spearmint oil.

That's as many as four tens! Fortunately, this lip color is in no way as terrible as Lex Luthor's deeds.

Color: Bright hot pink.
Flavor: Unflavored.
Opacity: May be applied sheer or built up to moderate opacity.
Stains: Yes - please keep away from upholstery and small children!

Ingredients: shea butter, organic jojoba oil, candelilla wax, vitamin E, castor oil, iron oxide, red #27

Shiro Cosmetics also included two free eyeshadow samples! Who doesn't love that?

Remake is from the The Tributes (Hunger Games!) collection and is described as "Shimmery gold-bronze with purple sparks."  Are You Sherr You Wanna Enchant That? is from "The Randomly Generated" collection and is described as "Dark brown-plum with bright white and blue sparks."

These are swatched on BARE skin, no primer. With primer, they would be even more opaque! I was very impressed by the pigmentation of these and they are gorgeous shades.

Here are a couple looks I did using one or both of these eyeshadows.

Using both "Remake" and "Are You Sherr You Wanna Enchant That?"

These are a few other eyeshadow shades I'd love to get my hands on! So perfect for Fall/Winter...

Some Swatches

- this is a scheduled post while I am on vacation -

Today I have some swatches for you! I picked up three new NYX Lip Smack Fun Colors (aka NYX Round Lipstick), Milani HD Advanced Lip Colors and a Physician's Formula Eye Booster Felt Tip Eye Liner.

First up are the NYX Round Lipsticks as they are most commonly called. I already owned "Haute Melon" but decided to get a few more using a gift card I had for Sears. I chose "Fig" a bubble gum pink, "Louisiana" a bright pink and "Eros" an orange based red. These are cruelty free and vegan. I know some vegans avoid NYX because they give out conflicting info on what is and isn't vegan but from the research I did, these do appear to be vegan.

I really love these lipsticks. They are quite opaque except for "Haute Melon" which is more sheer (but also more neon in person). They go on so smoothly and I find them very moisturizing.  These do stain your lips which some people may not like but I do. That way, as the lipstick rubs off you are still left with colour. These actually last a good while but will eventually wear off with eating/drinking. They rub off/fade very very evenly though so I find my lips still look great. One of my biggest pet peeves is when lipsticks wear off all patchy and gross or just leave the outer rim! So I definitely recommend these if you love a bold lip.

Next we have the Milani HD Advanced Lip Color. These are NOT vegan as they contain lanolin oil (oil from sheeps wool) but Milani is cruelty free. I was under the impression that these were vegan, not sure why, or else I would not have picked up three more. I already owned "Candy Apple" and it is my go to red when I want something a bit easier to wear. I spotted this for 75% off at CVS last week and picked up three more. I got "Classy Nude", "Vivacious Fushia" and "Modern Mauve". They all look just the way they sound.

I really love these because they are more sheer so you can wear them for a more subtle look (mind you they do still add a lot of colour!), build up the colour or layer them over other lipsticks. I have been layering them a lot. It's a great way to make my lipstick last. These do wear off easily with food/drink but are so easy to re-apply; no mirror needed. They are also very very moisturizing. My lips have honestly never been so soft since I've been wearing these! The NYX haven't dried out my lips either. I tend to have very dry lips!  I really wish these were vegan because they are so awesome. They do have a scent, a very sweet scent except "Classy Nude" which I guess is supposed to smell more like vanilla or something. It doesn't last too long though they are very strong when you are applying them.

My last swatches are of the Physician's Formula Eye Booster liner. I also got this from Sears using the gift card. The reviews on makeupalley.com were pretty good so I thought I'd give it a try.

Rubbed very very hard. As you can see, it fades but does not smudge!

This is a great liner for applying close to your lash line which is how it is meant to be applied. It is supposed to help thicken your lashes. I've only used it a few times so far so I can't attest to that but if I see a difference, I will update! These dries quickly and really does not budge. I wouldn't recommend using it for a thick cat eye but for a thin line it is great.
