holodelicious

Most polish-aholics are pretty obsessed with holo polishes and I'm no exception. Thing is, they are super pricey to buy. Nfu-Oh sells them for $12.50 and that's pretty much the cheapest you'll find.  Holo polishes are made with spectraflair pigment which is a holo powder added to the polish. So, some people came up with the brilliant idea to buy that pigment in a small amount and add it to polish they had. Amazing results! But the pigment was expensive and when sellers started to realize people wanted this in small amounts for polish (like I said, it's usually bought to paint an entire car with!)...they raised their prices! So anyway, one particular person came up with the BRILLIANT idea to add the pigment to a bottle of clear  nail polish so that it works as a holo topcoat. This  means you can turn almost any polish into a linear holo (vs a scattered holo which is like a lot of the glitter holo polishes)!  I bought two bottles of this stuff, which earned the name "gLORIous" since the girl who made it is named Lori, hehe. I posted some pics of it here but recently dedicated an entire nail wheel to it so that I could see it over a wider variety of colours. Okay, end ramble. Here it is!

the topcoat has a bit of a grey tinge to it so it makes your polishes a bit murky but they stay pretty true to color. this is outdoors but inside you can hardly tell. I have to shake the bottle REALLY well because the pigment sinks to the bottom over time which ruins the effect.

Ughh, I love it so much! I actually haven't worn a full mani of it yet, shockingly, so I think I will do that soon. It definitely pops the most on black/dark polishes. I really like it over purple so I may do that.  Or an ombre mani could be cool.

Someone asked if it works over duochromes so I swatched it over Wet n Wild "Grey's Anatomy" which is a purple/grey/green duochrome.

And yes, I discovered the macro setting on my camera... a camera I have had for THREE YEARS. Oy. :/
