This weeks Monday Mani theme was "creative layering". I was inspired by this pic I recently saw on Tumblr but of course I wanted to do my own version of it. It had to be different or else I wouldn't feel "creative"! So I decided to go with a coloured base and use WnW "Party of Five" glitter instead of Milani Gems "Jewel FX". I own both but Po5 costs less and I have two bottles of it, haha.
I started with SH Insta-dri "Fuschia Shock". I got this in a trade from a friend. I LOVE the application of these polishes. I do two coats but it dries fast and the wide brush is just amazing. More companies need to jump on that. This is a purple pink duochrome. I like it but I don't love it. I don't like many duochromes but I know many people do!
Here it is with just one coat of WnW "Party of Five" glitter. I like this!
I think I ended up doing five coats... haha Opacity is near impossible!
I added a top coat and then OPI "Black Shatter". I wanted wider cracks but it did crackle nicely. I can't say the finished product made me totally happy though. I didn't like the pink base. It stuck out at the cuticles which looked odd! Next time, I will do clear or match the crackle (so, in this case black). I'm glad I tried it though.
It was also very wavy looking! I don't like that.

That would look cool with a black instead of purple base. I just did that Party of Five Glitters over a dark blue, and I'm not sure I like it. Maybe I needed more coats, but I get tired of waiting on dry time once I get so many! lol.
