Happy Birthday USMC!

Happy 236th birthday, United States Marine Corps!!!   If you see a Marine today, wish him a happy birthday!

My husband is off work today until Sunday morning. Yay! Today I'm grocery shopping for my cleanse which starts Saturday. It's 14 days but since that goes over Thanksgiving weekend, I will eat a bit Thurs, Fri and more Sat but after that I'll try to do mostly juice for at least a few days. I think we're going to go see the movie Drive today too! Tomorrow we may go out for dinner. A lot of restaurants offer free entrees for military/military family on Veteran's Day.

These pictures are from last week. I love this sweater dress but I wish it were just a bit longer! I end up wearing it over leggings most of the time. I mainly wear this oversized sweater around the house but sometimes I'll wear it out. The weather during the day is just still too warm for it!  I like the shapelessness of it though. I'm drawn to layers, messy lines and specific silhouettes, I find.

(shoes + sweater Old Navy, scarf Wet Seal, leggings Target, socks unknown, dress H&M)

I recently snatched up this elf palette from Target (online) for only $1 including shipping! There was a $5 off coupon and shipping was 99cents.  I find elf shadows kind of hit or miss but was willing to take a change for $1.  elf is all vegan! I own a lot of their stuff, mainly mineral eyeshadows, but didn't have any of these books.
a bit cheap looking vs your typical palette
I ended up cutting off the plastic part with the numbers because it was annoying. The how to is decent and would be great for a beginner.
You can come up with your own eyeshadow designs. Cute idea but I couldn't get the eyeshadow to stick to the super glossy paper.
sun vs shade. I do really like the shades they offer. Lots of neutrals for day or night and a few pops of colour.

I've been using this palette a fair bit, actually! I like it. The trick is to use your fingers to apply the colours. I think they need the warmth of skin to be pigmented. I tried the application as well as brushes but they didn't work as well. My only complaint with elf eyeshadows in general is that when you go over them with a blending brush, they fade A LOT so I end up applying eyeshadow twice sometimes.  It was definitely worth $1 though. It's a handy booklet for travel, I think and like I said, I have been using it a lot.  If you are a beginner or prefer easier to wear shades, you might like this.
