Day 31: Recreate Your Favourite Challenge (Inspired by a Tutorial)

31 Day Nail Challenge

Last day, can you believe it?!  I saw this video the other day and knew I wanted to give it a try. I just so happened to own all those stamping plates! So these are my "winter sweater" nails. Too cute.

The green is China Glaze "Holly Day" and the red is China Glaze "Velvet Bow".

Here are all 31 designs.

I'm so glad I did the challenge! It really helped improve my skills. :)

Here's a very basic outfit I wore the other day. I've had an Old Navy Groupon to spend for a while and finally got around to it. I got quite a few things (and only paid $3 plus the $10 for the Groupon!) and among them were this mens scarf on sale for $2 and the top on sale for $5. I also bought another scarf, a beanie and two tank tops!

I got the boots for free using a gift card but they are from Sears. I ordered them online and they are much bigger in the calves than I'd expected but I still like them. I'm just happy to finally have some tall brown boots!

(boots Sears, jeans Target, top/scarf Old Navy)

Look how short my hair is!! It took some getting used to but I'm totally loving it now.

Day 30: Inspired by a Tutorial

31 Day Nail Challenge

I knew all along I would take inspiration from Nailside for this challenge. She has great tutorials, mainly tape ones, that I have been meaning to try! I usually find tape manis kind of tricky but I was really happy with how these turned out. I followed the mummy, cartoon heart, explosion (minus a step), lightning bolt and snowflake tutorials.

Polishes used:
Barielle "Falling Star", Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Celeb City", Essie "Ruby Slippers", China Glaze "Glittering Garland", China Glaze "Twinkle Lights" and Julep "Diane".

Here's two quick outfits. One before my haircut and one after. My hairdresser went quite a bit shorter than I had asked for! It took me a day or so to get used to it but I'm really liking it now. That said, I haven't washed it yet and my hair is naturally wavy not straight, so we will see!

I look really angry here but really the sun was just in my eyes haha

Love this lipstick except it wears off leaving just the liner so then I look very strange haha

Day 29: Supernatural (holo ghost)

Quite liked this outfit I threw together the other day. It was fine in the early afternoon but to chilly later on. Temperatures have finally dropped here in Southern California!  As in it's in the mid 60's lol I know, not that cold. I'm from Canada so I understand cold but I've gotten so used to the weather here these past few years! Then again, you can tell who has always lived here because they would not have bare legs in 60 degree weather. hehe Anyway, I was a crappy photographer and didn't realize there was a shadow over my face! Durrr.

 (top/skirt/boots Old Navy, socks/belt Target)
It's funny because I really do shop at those places the most since they are closest to where I live!

31 Day Nail Challenge

I really wasn't excited to do supernatural nails but I figured out a way to MAKE myself be excited. Holo topcoat. Oh heck yes. These is two coats of "gLORIous" topcoat (spectraflair + clear polish) over Fingerpaints "Whose Hue?". AMAZING. Then to make it supernatural I stamped the ghostie. haha It kind of reminds me of Super Mario... star power in a castle, or something.

"gLORIous" gives everything a bit of a grey sheen. Really, "Whose Hue?" is a shimmer eggplant colour. It's gorgeous and if I hadn't done my nails at night, I would have taken pictures of it first!

indoor lighting (just regular lighting, I didn't hold it up to a lamp or anything. My nails were very distracting at the gym with their bright lighting, I should add!)

 Are you ready for this?

I'm not sure you are.

Put on your sunglasses.

Day 27/28: Inspired by Art and a Flag (pop art & nautical)

31 Day Nail Challenge

For art, I chose pop art. I liked this image:

For "inspired by a flag" I went with nautical flags! It smells out "smile" from thumb to pinky. I didn't use any art brushes for this, just the polish itself.

Day 26: Inspired by a Pattern (Christmas wrapping paper)

31 Day Nail Challenge

I did four patterns inspired by some Christmas wrapping paper I have!

indoor lighting so you can better see the holoness.
it's two coats of spectraflair topcoat (aka gLORIous) over OPI "DS Coronation".

Day 25: Inspired by Fashion (Christian Siriano Spring 2012 RTW)

31 Day Nail Challenge

Fashion was tough because there were so many options!!! I was looking through my Spring 2012 runway posts though and this one jumped out at me. I thought it'd be a cool colour combo on my nails. I didnt' go totally literal with it, just allowed it to inspire me.
