Review: Petite Vour July 2014

I've reviewed Petit Vour before and I am back with another! I took some time off from subscribing (and have done so again) simply because I don't want to have more products that I can really use but guyssss Petit Vour is the best! They do such an amazing job of finding quality products that are cruelty free, vegan and not full of nasty carcinogens.  Read on to see what goodies July held!

As you can see, the full size LVX nail polish more than paid for the $15 price of Petit Vour!

First up, Schmidt's! I had mixed feelings about receiving this. Happy because it's AWESOME; best  natural deodorant I've used but sad because I know from the one I already own that it contains baking soda which gives me a rash in my pits. I can still use it, just not every day.  As long as you do okay with baking soda, I highly recommend this. Full sized ones (this is a mini) come with a little spatula thing which helps get the product out. It warms up to your touch so you mush it on your fingers and then apply it.  During the Winter it took a bit more work but now in Summer it's basically soft right away.  The Ylang Ylang + Calendula smells sooo good! It's not overpowering and I think ylang ylang is a pretty sexy scent. The other one I have, Bergamot + Lime is also delicious smelling but is much stronger. They hold up great through my workouts and last all day!

Next we have Modern Minerals in the shade . This is a super pigmented eyeshadow and I had no problems with application. Sometimes loose eye shadows can be a bit messy to apply but not this one! Definitely a brand I'd want to buy more from. Check out the swatch before! No primer and it's still very vibrant.

I've been following Pelle Beauty on Instagram for a little while now so I was so excited to receive a product! This is my first of this brand and I'm hooked. I wasn't sure I totally loved the smell at first but it really grew on me. I love face oils but tend to save them for the evening since they can make my skin a bit greasy (I have oily skin, if you're wondering). But this one I can apply in the morning and even put my makeup right on top of it and my skin absorbs it beautifully! I even saw a tip on the Pelle Beauty Instagram where you can mix this with a mineral foundation to create a liquid foundation...and it works!! This is one I will probably purchase a full size of.

I may not collect nail polish anymore but my digits are still always painted so new nail polish is always fun. It's nice to receive a higher end one like LVX because I myself don't really like to spend more than $10 on a bottle. I will say, I was a bit disappointed. Pale pink nail polish is notoriously tricky though. They tend to apply patchy and this was no exception. It was definitely still wearable and looked really good, just not the BEST formula I've seen. As far as wear time, it was good but not amazing. It started chipping on day two but just small bits. I kept it on for 5 or 6 days until I felt like it should be changed. It reminded me of Zoya polishes except it's about double the price. I won't hold it against LVX though because I don't doubt their other shades could be amazing.

Life Lately

Life is pretty dang good lately, I have to say. I mean, I'm a very positive person in general so I tend to feel this way haha but it just feels extra good lately! Of course not everything is perfect but I feel like it's all headed in the right direction and that's half the battle right?

I have a second interview with a gym tomorrow plus it'll be my 27th birthday! I'm going bowling with my husband and friends to celebrate. Saturday I'm going to the beach for friends' going away party. In a couple weeks the husband and I are going to a concert (we haven't been to one together in so long!) and seeing family. I'm loving my school work at Institute for Integrative Nutrition! I'm learning a lot and just constantly growing.  :)

Anyway, that's a snippet of what is going on lately but here are some pictures to accompany! I haven't taken outfit pictures in a week or so. I've spent a lot of time in my workout clothes between the gym and doing yoga. Plus it's been pretty hot out! Heat makes me fashion-lazy. hehe

Aren't Summer evening walks the best? It's pretty dead around here with the heat but it's still beautiful.

My silly William Wallace. He doesn't fit perfectly in his mini home but he sure does love it!

I re-signed up with Petit Vour. It's just the best!

Gettin it'!

Treekisser top! Love her shop.

Email me at liftinglettuce@gmail.com if you're interested! I've created a 4 week plan (1 lower body workout per week) to shape that booty! It's only $5!

My review!

Everything all together

I'm loving these Californai Naturel products!! The nourishing creme really is very moisturizing. I don't have dry skin but I love it nonetheless! The cleanser might be a new favourite and I also like the balancing complex. The scents aren't my favourite because of the lavender but they are by no means bad. I am considering buying the cleanser. These products are a bit pricier than what I'd normally spend but it's doable. I like that it's a fairly local product and they focus on making just a few products.

I've applied this to my hair (when dry) a couple times and I love the way it feels and smells. I used something similar by a different brand before and loved that as well. It gives your hair a healthy look and I feel like it helps moisturize it. Probably not something I'd shell out the money for though. I'm sure the sample will last a while!

This was the only full sized product this month. Of all the nail wraps I have tried (at least 5 different brands!) these lasted the best! I am crazy about the print and they were easy to apply. They recommend wearing a base and top coat with these so I did. My only complaint is that they weren't wide enough for my nails! Some fit fine but not all. It's not overly noticeable but probably enough reason for me to not purchase these.

I can't say I've seen results but I'm not finished using it yet.

Review: Petit Vour February 2014

I recently signed up for a 3 month subscription to Petit Vour.  It's $15/month and includes 4-5 products, a mix of sample and full sized. All of the products are vegan!

So here is a review of the February box I received (I know, I meant to post this awhile ago!). I'm very happy with it!

Onto my review!

EVERYDAY MINERALS
First of all, this smells soo good! It also works very nicely. My only complaint is the colour. I don't really do brown shades.  Still, the product itself is really nice.

 OFRA
This is my new favourite blush. I'd never heard of this brand before but I am definitely interested in it now. This colour is so perfect. The blush applies beautifully and lasts well. No complaints!

 EVERYDAY MINERALS
I use this before my foundation (as suggested) and it works very well. It has a nice brightening affect. I only use it under my eyes, not as a spot concealer.  I really like this product and am happy to have a good under eye powder in my arsenal. I often put it over another concealer to help set it.

AMALA
Face care collection: Purify
Sample sizes of gel cleanser, gel moisturizer and clay mask
Sorry, not the nicest picture! I already went through one of the cleansers. It's my favourite of the bunch. I don't use the gel moisturizer much, not that it's bad it just doesn't seem to do much for my skin. I do like the clay mask as well. I thought about purchasing the cleanser but it is pretty pricey and I'm actually preferring a different brand I tried in March's Petit Vour box!

LINDEN BEAUTY
No picture of the "beauty tea" but I loved it! I put some in a large bowl of hot water, draped a tea towel over my head and let my face soak up the steam. It smells amazing and my skin felt so nice after. Next time I take a bath I plan on sprinkling some of this in as well!
