Outfit: Heat Wave

So who else is dying in this heat wave? Ugh. So over it! It's zapping my energy and I'm falling behind on school work. I think today I'm going to play catch up at Starbucks where the AC is stronger.

I started working at Old Navy this week! So far so good. I'm pretty excited to get my employee discount card. haha You can fully expect the majority of my clothes this Fall/Winter to come from Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic etc.

November & December Outfits

I've been trying to decide what changes I could make to the blog to make it easier for me to keep up with it. I decided to just not have designated posts for certain day of the week anymore. So the content will remain the same, it'll just be posted more at random.  :)  I'll have the title reflect the type of post so that you'll know what sort of category it fall into.

Playing catch up here! November and December outfit round up!

Hot Fall

Hey, I finally wore an outfit I felt was worth blogging about! That's about it though. I didn't do my hair or makeup. haha

This outfit is an example, at least in my opinion (like everything on this blog!), of how you can wear Fall appropriate items in 90f weather.  I love lightweight blouses like this because they still keep you pretty cool.  Leather (mine are faux) isn't the most heat friendly material because it'll stick to sweaty skin but it does have more of a Fall feel to it. So just keep that in mind if decide to wear them out with friends and each time you stand up after sitting for a while you basically have to peel them away from your ass and thighs...not that I experienced that or anything.  Ahem.  And of course, ankle boots, my favourite!  Thankfully, ankle boots work well with shorts/skirts/dresses so they are a great early Fall item! I went with black here but brown or tan is also a great option for warmer weather. Finally, the belt. Mustard is definitely a shade that I associate with Fall along with navy, burgundy, dark green etc. Adding in a simple accessory in a cliche Fall shade is a great idea. It could be a scarf, a hat, jewelry etc

Belated Foodie

This past week has been a little nuts with my husband deploying so I apologize for the missed posts. I literally just wore Julie G "Rock Candy" on my nails all week so no manicure pictures to share! I know I missed Friday Foodie though so I figured I'd get that up today.

The past two weeks of indulging has definitely caught up to me and I'm looking forward to going back to my healthier habits!  Honestly though, my downfall was all of the beer I had. Delicious, craft, local beer... haha

CSA:
Lettuce, grapes (never had local grapes, yum!!), pear, summer squash, figs, tomoatoes, poblano peppers, onion, zucchini, basil...

Breakfast:
Stuffed french toast. Basically peanut butter and banana inbetween two slices of bread, dipped in almond milk and cooked on the stovetop. The recipe is from 1,000 Vegan Recipes.
Cascadian Farms cereal with fruit and cinnamon
Same as above plus homemade granola
Tofu scramble, hashbrowns and grapes.
These waffles topped with fruit and almond based yogurt. I used whole wheat flour and raw sugar. I'll omit the sugar next time or half it though, it didn't need to be so sweet.

Lunch/Snacks:
This tasty tomato soup and homemade breadsticks.
These are extra good when frozen!
Simple quesadilla. Homemade tortilla, Daiya Pepperjack (my favourite vegan cheese now!) and spinach topped with salsa.
Raw fig newtons. Delicious!
Delicious sandwich with roasted eggplant and zucchini.
Party food! It was all vegan except the ranch dip. I brought the hummus and these chocolate chip cookies (I used coconut oil) which were a big hit.
My favourite smoothie this week was coconut water, frozen pineapple, frozen banana and with or without an orange.
Open faced sandwich with homemade hummus, CSA tomatoes, CSA lettuce and cucumber.
Native Foods Cafe nachos. Mmm.

Dinner:
Homemade nachos with salsa, pinto beans, guacamole and Daiya Pepperjack
Inspired by this. Brown rice, quinoa, sauteed kale, peanuts, raisins, bell pepper and homemade bbq sauce.
Native Foods Cafe wings. Don't they look real?! They are soy, wheat and pea protein. Delicious.
Native Foods Cafe sandwich they only had for one weekend. It had breaded cauliflower!
Native Foods Cafe macro bowl. A new favourite!  My inlaws gave the husband and I a $100 gift card so yeah, we ate a lot of Native Foods this past week and a half haha
Stir fry using Archer Farms Mango Curry Sauce.
I love that Stone Brewery has so many vegan options. These are the "duck tacos" but with tofu instead of duck. Unfortunately, I found them way too spicy and had to send them back! They gave me new ones (with less sauce) but no sides.  So... it was hardly worth $18!

Train Stops, Vacuums & Beer

  • I've spent a fair bit of time at train stations lately. Too bad they aren't the most picturesque.
  • Shopping haul from last week!
  • Pretty sunset on an evening walk with my dog.
  • Cuddles from my kitty. Every day.
  • My favourite head scarf to date. I got it at a Goodwill in Port Orchard, WA years ago for about $3.
  • For our date night last Friday (finally saw WWZ!) my husband requested I do a faux hawk haha
  • Beer samples at Iron Fist brewery in Vista, CA.  I love love craft beer.
  • Enjoying some beer we took home and delicious chocolate.
  • I finally bought a Dyson!!! This is the DC33. So far, I'm in love. It works amazingly!
