Brights

I love tribal nails! I've gotten better and freehanding straight lines and such so I'm quite happy with how these turned out. Practice, practice!

This one was inspired by Copy That Copy Cat. I loved how bright it was!

The gradient is hard to see here but it goes from orange to pink. The tribal nail was inspired by  Nailside.

Speaking of brights, I love bright  lips this time of the year. You can keep your eye makeup very simple which is nice when it's hot out and just focus on the lips which are easier to re-apply later. Here I'm wearing NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in "Addis Ababa", a favourite of mine. These are like applying velvet! They apply so nicely and wear time is pretty good. They are a bit drying since they are matte so you have to make sure to moisturizer your lip well before applying. Or just wear a balm over top.

Tribal

Well, this weekend was interesting! On Saturday afternoon, I was opening a mature brown coconut and while removing the peel with a knife my hand slipped, slicing my thumb open. I'd never cut myself so badly! My husband was at the gym (ju jitsu) and left his phone in the car so I had to get a friend to drive over there (I don't drive) and tell him to come get me so we could go to the hospital. haha It didn't bleed for long but I was in a ton of pain! I guess I was in shock at first because I thought I was going to pass out. Anyway, we went to the ER and they eventually wrapped it up...then after FIVE HOURS of waiting (and I was on the "fast track"!) I was finally seen. I got two stitches! It was really painful (at least the prep + numbing, not the actual stitches) and I was happy I had my husband's hand to hold, haha.  I'd never been to the ER or had stitches before though.  Anyway, I just have to take care of the stitches/wound for the next week or so until I get the stitches out. The pain isn't too bad now as long as I don't use/bend my thumb at all...which is annoying.  We did go to a party (and to watch UFC) at a friends place afterwards because I figured we should go have fun after 5 hours of sitting in a waiting room lol And we had a ton of fun! On Sunday we ran errands and then had a nice dinner at BJs. So at least we ended the weekend on a good note!

I haven't been doing as much freehand nail art lately so I decided to do some tribal nails. They are far from perfect but I kind of like the imperfections. This is before my lil accident lol

 I picked up this blouse at Closet for around $13 before meeting a friend for lunch a couple weeks ago. I love it! I'm a sucker for anything sheer as well as a collar. I like the black accents, long sleeves and the trapeze fit.

31 Day Nail Challenge

Okay, it didn't turn quite how I wanted but overall I still like it. It sure took a long time! Tribal print is fun though. This is totally random.

What I used:

I like the middle finger design the best, I'd never done one quite like that. The index finger, I'm not a big fan of although from a distance it's fine. What'cha think?

Tribal Nails & a Haircut

Here are those nails I showed you a peek of! I've been wanting to do a full tribal mani for a while, finally did it. It was time consuming, that's for sure. I love tribal print though and I think wearing it on your nails is an awesome way to add it to any look.

It's far from perfect but at arms distance, you can hardly tell. I think the imperfections kind of add to it anyway...let's you know it was done by hand!

I used Bettina "Birds" and Sinful Colors "Mint Apple" as my bases. Two favourites of mine.

Then I just made up my own design and kept it the same on each nail. I did the coloured stripe at the bottom first, then the white ones. Then I did the black lines. Finally, the black dots.

Also, got my hair cut today!

 My hair stylist dried it with a diffuser to play up my natural waves. Yeah, now I want a diffuser! I haven't had my hair this short in a while so I'm eager to see how it look au natural as well as straightened!
