Outfit: Mint Dress

I wore this to my husband's grad thing last week. I've actually had this dress since, like, the beginning of the year and have not got around to doing alterations on it. haha That's kind of embarrassing! It just needs to be taken in at the waist a bit. So did I get around to doing that before wearing it? Nope. I just threw a belt on.  Hashtag lazy.  I love the colour of this dress and the little keyhole! I also really like this style. It's a little more modest so it works well when I want to be a little dressed up for a day event.

Modcloth Lead by Example Dress

Modcloth recently asked me if I'd be interested in participating in a little challenge! The task was to show you guys an outfit featuring this gorgeous "Lead by Example" dress (also comes in plus size)! I love the classic look of this dress and the fact that it'd be flattering on so many different body shapes and women of various ages.  I paired it with some adorable peep toe heels, studs and a fun printed clutch. I could definitely see wearing this to dinner as we move from Winter to Spring. Modcloth has suuuuch a cute selection of dresses. I know, I totally sound like an ad right now but it's true! haha

I love layering a sweater over a short dress! It creates such a cute mini skirt and ya'll know I love a collar! Double win.

Any Doctor Who fans here? I finally caved and began watching it and (as expected) I'm hooked!

Nice thing about this weather we've been having is that I can still get away with covering up half of my body.

Happy Colour

This dress is one of my favourites because it's so happy. Yellow is a happy colour. Sure it's short on me as most dresses are when you are 5'10" but hey. I wore this to the Farmer's Market with my husband- so happy to have him back home!

Gotta love a bronzed look for sunny days.  I used my Coastal Scents Shimmer Palette on the eyes, Too Faced Perfect Eyes eyeliner (vegan and my faaavourite eyeliner), theBalm Bahama Mama (vegan) to contour and so on and so forth.

 Now let's talk about my shoes! This is my first Shoe Dazzle purchase and I couldn't be happier! I was afraid they'd be uncomfortable but they aren't at all.  I don't know if I got lucky or if Shoe Dazzle shoes are always this awesome (they have their own plus other designers). They had sent me a $15 off coupon so I paid less than $30 for these.

Classic

Today was long and not in the best of ways. A meeting that didn't go as I hoped and then 5 hours of waiting around on base for my husband to finish up at work (I watched Jack Reacher and The Sandlot hehe). But! Husband has tomorrow off so the weekend has officially started. He leaves for 2 weeks of training on Tuesday so we'll be sure to make the most of our time together these next few days.

Sometimes I get a bit frustrated when taking my outfit pictures because I do it myself with a point an shoot camera... no tripod or remote. I don't have great lighting indoors so I always go outside. So then it's a matter of finding somewhere to balance my camera and have the sun in the right spot. Oh and preferably no people next to me. haha Not the easiest task! So last weekend I asked my husband to snap a few shots. I couldn't not laugh but am hoping to make it a regular weekend thing!

I have to talk about this jacket. I tried it on At Old Navy recently and felt it was promising. I was on the website and remembered they have a "tall" section. I decided to order the jacket in Tall and am so happy I did! It's hard to find jackets, especially denim or faux leather, that are long enough. I also have a larger chest so cropped jackets just don't work on me. I have tried on sooo many and just ended up looking super boxy. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for a faux leather jacket come Fall!

Super Glue Shoes

Happy 237th Birthday, Marine Corps!  Best military force in the world.

I've reunited with these shoes and it feels so good. I'd forgotten how comfortable they are and that they go with just about everything. The heel broke on one so I was going to toss them but really, who is look at my heel? I just super glued it to make sure it doesn't fully come apart. haha I'm so classy!

I love the pin up girl look. A black cat eye and red lips are too classic to go wrong with. Lipstick is Wet n Wild Megalast "Purty Purmmison", a great orange based red.  And yes, my hair is definitely looking less red these days. I've had it for just over 3 weeks, so not too long really. Reds just fade fast. But I still love the colour so I really don't mind. My roots aren't too bad. I'll probably re-dye it in a few weeks.

Birthday Dress

For my birthday, I wore a new dress I got at Target on Tuesday. I love it!  I ended up changing into nude suede wedges though since I didn't go to the beach. Much cuter so I wish I'd had them on in these pictures!

I love the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils in the summer because they have such great stay power. My favourite foundation right now is the Tarte Amazonion Clay one. And this is how my hair dries naturally.
