End of the Year

Today is my husband and I's 5th wedding anniversary. :) People are always shocked to hear that because we're only 24. hehe While we have been through some tough experiences our marriage has always been strong and never faltered. I'm so thankful to be married to such a great guy! Here's to a great 2012 and many more happy years of marriage. :)

These pictures are from yesterday. I like how the statement necklace and wedges dress up an otherwise very basic outfit of a long sleeve T and jeans.  I like statement necklaces because I am not one to pile on the accessories so with this at least I can put it on and feel complete. I got this one on sale for $4 or so at Burlington Coat Factory.

Things I am thankful for going into 2012:
  • both met and surpassed my weightloss goal! it was 150lbs and I'm about 142lbs (and 5'10")
  • seeing family! And one of my sisters just got engaged :)
  • feeling very comfortable in my own skin and with who I am
  • an amazing marriage where we respect one another and treat each other right
  • deciding to become vegan/adopt a plant based diet
  • coconut macaroon coffee by Archer Farms hehe
  • working out 5x a week and looking forward to it each time
  • my husband following his dreams career-wise
  • getting to study to become a personal trainer
  • our newish car not having any problems
  • our new addition to the family, our kitten William Wallace
  • the love our dog Forrest and William have for one another
  • great friends who are a ton of fun
  • and many more things!

Day 11

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
I'm honestly thankful for everything in my life.  There are few changes I'd like to see but they don't make me any less thankful.  :)  I hope I feel this blessed every year!

Okay, so I'm writing this on Wednesday a day early... busy day tomorrow!

So this is not what I'm wearing for Thanksgiving but I did wear it to eat a Thanksgiving meal so close enough. I wore it to my husbands work, on the Marine Corps base.  They had a work lunch where everyone bough Thanksgiving food. Yum!

For actual Thanksgiving, my husband and I are going to spend it with another couple that we're getting to know. :)  She was very sweet to open her home to us! I'm bringing a homemade pumpkin pie (well, from a can. I didn't make it from a pumpkin!), cream cheese dips that I made plus crackers and maple cookies!  I'll share pictures tomorrow...aka Friday. heheh.

After wearing this boots AGAIN, I told my husband I need some black flats.  It made sense to me.

I roughly followed this guide to do my hair. I have very thick hair though... I slept on it and then the next day it actually looked better, haha. I think that's what I'm going to do today (Wednesday night).

Day 10

I'm really trying to be creative with my 30 for 30 outfits, pairing pieces I've never worn together before. This outfit is a good example of that.  I hadn't thought to wear this skirt over my sweater dress before! It was very very snuggly.  This skirt was a $3 sales find at Old Navy YEARS ago and I still wear it. It's a bit big now so I need to take it in but it's very versatile.  Versatile + inexpensive = shopping wish come true.

Yeah, I did the socks with the boots two days in a row.

Sometimes my dog just gets in the way during pictures. haha

What are you listening to lately?
I got a few new albums on Zune last night.  Very common, overly hyped stuff but I like it.  I got the new albums from Train, Taylor Swift, Rihanna (I used to hate her music! It really grew on me) and Katy Perry.  I wanted Glee but you have to pay extra.  My husband already has a lot of bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Muse and City and Color on his Zune (we use it in the car) so I had to add some "Top 40" to the mix. :P I listen to a wide variety of artists but have no shame in admitting my love for someone like Katy Perry, not sure why people get so snotty about music sometimes.

Day 8

I didn't wear this anywhere, I was just playing dress up. Yep. I hadn't worn this belt in a very long time and it did inspire me to wear it more so... I will try to work that into an outfit soon.  Clothes are fun to play with. I wonder why as we get older we no longer "play dress up" as much... Honestly, I love going into my closet and trying new looks.  Some are over the top, some are wearable.  This one would be wearable with tights and the skirt worn lower, I think.  I wouldn't wear it this short out in public... and yet I'd post it here. Hmm.

Last night I went to a girls night. Fun! There was about 9 of us. We ate (I made pumpkin square), drank, played games (Apples to Apples is always a hit) and of course talked a ton.  I was only up until 1am but I'm so tired today. Still planning on hitting the gym later.  There's another girls night at a Mexican restaurant tomorrow night that I plan on going to, but with different girls.  In military life, people move away a lot, so I'm always trying to meet new people.

(dress Victoria's Secret, belt Forever 21, shoes Aldo, sweater Old Navy)

This is what I wore last night except I decided to be extra comfy so I swapped the wedges for oxfords and left the belt off.  I don't straighten my hair too often but it's a fun change when I do.  I felt pretty last night.  I can say that, right? :)
