Life Lately

I was SO sad to hear about Robin William's passing. I think a lot of us feel like we grew up watching him, I know I did. He was always a favourite of mine and acted in a lot of my favourite movies. He was also a brilliant comedian and had such infection energy. He will be very missed. Of course, it sheds light on depression and suicide. I read that suicide rates go up after a celebrity dies that way so please please if you are having suicidal thoughts or just need someone to talk to, reach out! You can also call the # 1-800-273-8255 for the US National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Here's a look at my life lately.

Outfit: Utility Vest

I'd forgotten I had a couple outfits to share from before I went on vacation! So let's just jump back to early June for a moment okay?

I picked up this vest from Old Navy because I'd been wanting one for a while. I'm still not sure how I feel about it though. At first I thought it was just the boxy fit (I sized down) but I think it's the stiff material that I'm not loving. If it has some drape to it it would be a lot more flattering.  I feel a bit like a fisherman in it. I've heard washing clothes in vinegar helps break down the fibers and gives it a softer, worn feel so I could try that. Any had any luck doing that?  Vests are such a great wardrobe piece when you live in Southern California because it's often too warm for a jacket but you still want an extra layer. This is the only vest I own though!

Outfit: Just Another Day in Paradise

I love casual fashion so it makes me pretty happy that sweatshirts are a big trend right now. This Old Navy one is really soft and lightweight, making it great for this time of the year. I sized down for a more fitted look.  Oh and these shoes? I wear them a ton. They solve that dilemma of should I wear black, cream or brown shoes with this outfit. ;)

Outfit: California Vibe

Do you find that where you live affects your style?  I've been in Southern California for 5+ years now and I definitely know that the beachy, laid back surfer vibe has rubbed off on me!  I gravitate towards a lot of comfortable basics, flowy tops, ripped denim, flat shoes and so on. Not to say I don't also like to throw on heels and a dress but even then, I see the SoCal influence.  I've only lived on the West Coast though so I think that laid back vibe has always been a part of my look.

I bought this Old Navy tee hoodie in two colours. It's very lightweight which is great for Spring here! Of course I couldn't resist this pretty mint shade.  I also recently bought these flats from Payless. They are super comfortable and such an easy pair of shoes to throw on. I freakin' love the pattern and the fact that they add some interest to a simple tshirt and shorts look.  This is the kind of outfit I often throw on to walk my dog, run errands... anything some what active.

Life Lately

A little of what I've been up to lately! Follow me on Instagram if you like this sorta stuff.

Enjoyed watching the Winter Olympics! Yeah Canada!

I've been slowly updating and adding to our apartment during this deployment. These were a few recent purchases. The bedroom is getting an overhaul right now!

William being all cute and crap.

Shirts I designed on spreadshirt.com

I received my very first Petit Vour box! Review to come.

New comfy flats from Target (got 'em on clearance)

Have ya'll tried Boom Chicka Pop? ADDICTING. I love both the salted and the sweet ones. Also, I discovered that Francis Coppola wines are vegan and oooh they are delicious! I particularly like the pinot noir.

Pantless at the beach last week.

My pup (left) stayed with a friend while I was on vacation. This is him with her dog. Too cute.

Outfit: Striped Pencil Skirt

I love the look of a pencil skirt; so classic. I love that they can be dressed up and down, are sexy without showing a lot and so on. So I've been on the hunt for the right one! I wanted something in a casual fabric, with stretch and a flattering fit. Well guess what? Found it! At Target, of course. I grabbed this striped one plus a black one. My only complain are the pockets because they aren't flattering to my hips so I stitched them closed.  I'm not seeing the skirt online so check your local store! It's the Merona brand.

This outfit feels very Valentine's Day appropriate!

Outfit: Colourful Leopard

Well it's about time! For some reason I couldn't get photos to upload for a while there. My apologies for the silence!

So how about them Seahawks!? Woo!! I will be in Seattle for the Super Bowl and I cannot WAIT!  If only my husband weren't deployed; he's the one actually from WA!

It has been a very warm January! Which is disappointing because our Winters are already pretty mild to begin with so I really enjoy being able to layer up a bit this time of the year! I mean, don't get me wrong, sunshine is nice and I wasn't complaining when I was in my bikini at the beach last week but still...   Lucky for me I'm off to Seattle/Vancouver/San Fran next month so I'll get my cold weather fix then! None of that crazy -10 for me, thanks!
