Enjoyed watching the Winter Olympics! Yeah Canada!

I've been slowly updating and adding to our apartment during this deployment. These were a few recent purchases. The bedroom is getting an overhaul right now!

New comfy flats from Target (got 'em on clearance)

Have ya'll tried Boom Chicka Pop? ADDICTING. I love both the salted and the sweet ones. Also, I discovered that Francis Coppola wines are vegan and oooh they are delicious! I particularly like the pinot noir.

Super Fun Night

• Halloween! I kind of wish I could dress up as a zombie more often haha
• I signed up with NASM to become a personal trainer. Time to study!

• Trying clothes on at Target. Of course. I bought the printed skirt but then I returned it the next day. haha I am indecisive like that.
• Girls night!
• My pets are taking over my bed!  It's okay, I like it. They keep me company, especially during deployment!

Finally Feels like Fall

• We're finally having some Fall weather here!
• Picked this up in hopes that I can dress up and go somewhere for Halloween. I really want to be a zombie hehe
• Painted my cats nails. hahah Oh gosh.
• Pet snuggles.
• Trying on Fall stuff at Target. The orange sweater is pretty great.
• Orly at Burlington Coat Factory! I picked up the base coat polish and really like it.

New

• My dog fell asleep reading The Economist. haha Okay, not really, but I thought it was cute...
• Giant tomato from my CSA box!
• My cat clearly not amused with me taking our picture.
• Picked up this Flower mascara- review to come!
• Bought myself a new video game. First time in a looong time. I completely suck at it because, uh, I suck at shooting but hey... I'll get better. haha
• New earrings from Target and I got the watch for free! They recently had an awesome mobile coupon.
• Packing for my upcoming trip. I was trying to really narrow down what I brought since I'm sticking to a carry on so I was planning outfits... but I still have too much. Gah!

Good-bye September

• Received a letter from my husband! Upside of deployment. I mean, how often do you get actual letters these days?
• William Wallace hogging the bed.
• Movie and beer night for one! How adorable is John Cusack, really.
• Bought Forrest this stick toy. He loved it... for like 5 seconds. Lame. It said it had real wood in it and would smell like it but it really doesn't. 
• This smells SO good. I warm it in my Scentsy warmer.
• Every evening, now that it is cool enough in the evenings, I put on my sweater cape. It's like wearing a blanket and that makes me happy.
• New flats I bought at Payless Shoe Source. I returned the nude ones because they fit sorta funny but kept (and love) the leopard ones. They are SO comfortable!!
• Still loves to sleep on me every evening while I watch tv.

Girls

• Girls night! 
• Officially have my greencard now! Woo!
• Enjoyed some beer at Latitude 33 with a friend. #drinklocal
• Spotted my sister on the cover of this romance novel at Target. hehe She's a model in Canada. It was cool to see it in person, in a store!
• Dressed up to go to a comedy club with friends. So much fun! If you've never been to see any stand up comedians, go!

• Pre-gym sesh. 

Phillip Lim

• Found my kitty  sleeping in my husbands stuff! I'd never seen him there before...
• Got my greencard, Thumbs up!
• Train ride home with Starbucks.
• Cali coast.
• Spotted these cute ankle boots in Target. $45 is more than I'll spend on Target shoes though.
• Girls night! It's common to wear red on Fridays to show support for the troops so we decided to start doing it while our husbands are deployed.
• I went to Old Navy on Saturday when they had 50% off one item going on and got this pretty necklace for $5.
• Sent my husband a care package!
• I went to Target yesterday when the Phillip Lim collection came out. I tried on a bunch of stuff (and shared pics with one of my sisters in case she wanted anything haha) but didn't buy. I liked it all but wasn't in love, you know? We'll see though. The store wasn't busy but the bags were sold out so I guess some people must have showed up first thing. I went in the afternoon.

Hi, September

• Enjoying a recent Nylon magazine. I used to devour fashion magazines but these days they don't really hold my interest as well! I do get excited for the fall looks though.
• My tan lines from walking to the gym. I have shorts lines too. haha Ugh.
• Gym sesh.
• Beer tasters for my friends and I at Wet n Reckless Brewery.
• Beer hopping with my girls! Our husbands are all deployed right now; so thankful to have them around!

Hot Hot

• Enjoying a blueberry IPA at Indian Joe Brewery in Vista CA with a friend. I've pretty much given up on cocktails at this point. haha
• Silly William. I guess he wants me to ship him to see my husband on the boat!
• Changed at the gym to meet some girls for lunch at Souplantation
• Can you spot William? Every time I take Forrest out, he perches on the ledge to wait for him (yeah him, not me) to come back. If the balcony door is closed he goes to the bedroom window. Once we are coming up the stairs, he goes to the front door and waits there.  Yeah.  He is ridiculous. :)
• Pretty evening walk with Forrest.
• hahahah I don't know why he sticks his tongue out so often but it never fails to crack me (and my husband) up.
• He loves shoe pillows.
• This week has been hot! Well, for us anyway. 90f and about 60% humidity. Forrest and I spent a lot of time in the shade outdoors because it was much cooler than the apartment where it has to be over 100f!
• Almost ready to send some care packages to my husband!  It's kind of a fun part of deployment, one of the few things we can do for our spouses while they are away.

Deployment Blah!

• Target replaced the Milani cosmetics in store with... NYX! Awesome!
• Tshirt I won during a pub crawl. We hopped from local breweries and then saw The World's End. How awesome is that?
• Baby lizard that somehow found itself in my home. I caught him in a cup and set him free haha
• How many lipsticks are too many for one purse? haha Oops.
• Loooved this mani.
• Deployment countdown! I know, it's a sad sight right now.
• Recently snagged this for less than $30. So far so good! It's like the Clarisonic but less fancy.
• Trying on some bold shades in Target. 

So yeah, my husband deployed this past week. Boo. I'm doing alright at the moment because we are used to being a apart but I know in a couple months I'll start to hate it more.  Right now I just try not to think about it too much; keep my mind busy. It's awful knowing I won't see him until next year! Here are some pictures we took before he left. 

Good Beer, Good Weather and Good Friends

• I finally got a new military dependent ID after over a year of not having one. I don't have a drivers license so while I didn't have this I was stuck using my passport everywhere. 
• Being silly at a local brewery with my husband and friends. "I got a fever for the beaver"... because the place is called Belchin' Beaver.
• Our beers at Belchin' Beaver. I loved Wet Hop Highway.
• Eating Thai food and enjoying a beer at Indian Joe Brewery
• New cut is shorter on top.
• My husband surprised me with this haha He not so secretly would love for me to have a sleeve. Uh, I have one tattoo. 
• New shirt. You can find it on society6.com
• Husband and I took Forrest to Ocean Beach dog beach. He loooves dog beaches. We hadn't been to this one but it was great! So big. 
• Chambray and floral. Kind of can't beat that.

In with the New Out with the Old

• I joined Poshmark. Shop my stuff here!!
• Finally committed to a new duvet cover . It wasn't really what I was looking for but I liked it and really needed something! Target, of course.
• My cat took a strange nap.
• Tried on this jacket at Target and can't stop thinking about it.
• Received a bunch of goodies in the mail all at once! Woo!

Summer Days

• Group of girls I hung out with on Thursday. I'm the giant! haha
• Saw this cute guy at the beach. 
• Walked around Sunset Market in Oceanside, CA.
• Kitty cuddles.
• Spotted these at Target. They have a lot of new healthy items lately. Of course these aren't as healthy as using fresh ingredients but they were vegan and not full of gross ingredients. I did't buy any but thought I'd share in case someone was interested.
• My bell peppers finally turned yellow!
• I start Phase 2 of Live Fit this week! Excited.
• Ordered this shirt. I looove my hoppy beer! It'll be perfect for brewery hopping next weekend.
• Trimmed my own hair. I use these scissors and this razor comb.

Hope you all have a great week! My husband comes home after being gone for two weeks so I'm excited!

Little Changes

• I opened my eyes at like 6am to see my cat asleep on the bed, in my spot, using my pillow. I was in my husband's spot. He looked so sweet!
• My purple hair before it completely faded.
• Spent Saturday at the beach. It has been cloudy but hot and muggy here lately. Kind of weird for this area.
• Out with friends for my birthday!
• Some pink streaks I did with AB hair chalk prior to dying my hair. Not a great product, IMO... do all hair chalks rub off VERY easily? I couldn't wear this when my hair was longer because it'd rub off on my clothing.
• My coconut cream cake slice a friend bought for me on my birthday! She bought me a slice of cake last year too. So sweet. It's always nice to have a friend that is very supportive of your vegan life style. She's vegetarian and was vegan for a bit so she gets it!
• My latest VitaCost order. 

Silly Pets and Such

•  Our adorable William Wallance enjoyed bath time on my lap every evening. Never knew I made such a great bath tub.
• Enjoying the sun, a book and painting my nails.
• Discovered that my dog loves broccoli stems! He treated it just like a bone. 
• First yoga class ever! I LOVED it! Going to go every Wednesday. :)
• Made these yummies and posted a recipe here.
• Attacked by my dog while trying to workout haha As soon as I'm on the ground he think  he needs to lick my face.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

 

• DIY face mask
• I made some makeup remover wipes! Posted a tutorial on Nikki Designs here.
• Bought a vase to hold the pretty flowers my husband bought me. We had some freak 90F  weather though and t totally killed them!
• VitaCost order! It arrived the next day! <3 li="">
• Hanging out with friends Saturday night.
• The rest are all from a photo scavenger hunt I did with friends on Saturday. It was SO much fun. Such a good idea! I highly encourage getting some people together and giving it a shot. We  had 3 teams (one being just husbands). We had 2 hours to get as many items on a list we had as we could! We could only use one camera and a team member had to be in every photo. :D Afterwards, we got together and looked at the pictures on someone's TV and tallied up the scores. My team didn't win but hey.

Let's Get Out of the House

• Only place I ever really order wine is at Native Foods Cafe
• Ready to head to a friend's going away party. I wear this scarf a lot.
• First ride in the Jeep! In our car he liked to be right up by us so he whined A LOT being in the back but he'll get used to it!
• UFC date night + bar food
• Hair/makeup for the going away party. I love curling my hair with a 1/2" flat iron!
• Story day at the beach
• Our dog's favourite place to be

Highs and Lows

This past week sure has been interesting! It started out horribly but ended on a good note.

• Our sad pup leaving the dog beach. haha He LOVES that place. Sand, water, fetch and, of course, my husband and I make him very happy!
• We picked up Native Foods Cafe on our way home from the dog beach to eat while watching The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones! It was a pretty perfect day. I tried the portobella sausage burger and it was heaven. 
• I'm a bit of a compulsive list maker! My husband left today for a few weeks (military training stuff) and what's the first thing I do? Make a to do list.
• I spent an afternoon hanging out on base, watching movies, while waiting for my husband. It cracks me up that they have condoms in the bathrooms like this.
• I spotted this new "gift giving" aisle at Target. It's full of cute stuff!
• I'm starting a juice cleanse tomorrow so my fridge is looking particularly fresh!
• Enjoyed a little hike with Forrest (our dog). Love that little booger.
• Finally bought myself this Target hat I've been wanting! My husband was like "who are you", saying I looked so different with it on. haha I literally wore it all day; super comfortable.
• Starbucks, that is not how my name is spelled! That's not bad but what is, is the fact that my drink was not what they said it was. I ordered a soy green tea latte... no clue what this was! So I didn't drink it in case it had milk in it.
• Poor car. We still haven't gotten word about any settlement! Hopefully we will hear soon.
